Before I choose law school, I wanted to be an academic. I worked for years in college on a research project on developing democracies through universities. The pojects and oppurtunities I had were great, and it was the definingf part of my college career. but, eventually, I got frustrated with the aims and pace. I would go to meeting after meeting to, and while interesting, moved too slow for me.

Eventually I got a job in Washington, and worked for a lawyer at a think tank. There we could read the ideas and discussions coming out of academics and convince lawmakers to do something about it. I loved the excitement and decided to try law school.
